Purpose
Our Organizational Effectiveness Grants (formerly “Capacity Grants”) support nonprofits in building specific skills, capabilities, and strategies to better execute their work, helping them reach the next level of organizational effectiveness.
Most Recent Eligibility & Guidelines for This Grant Opportunity:
- All applicants must schedule a pre-application phone conversation with the Organizational Effectiveness Grant Program Officer before consideration for funding.
- Funding is solely intended for nonprofits that will address issues that affect the entire organization, rather than a single department or program.
- Applicants must have current 501(c)3 status. Fiscally sponsored organizations are not eligible.
- Applicants must serve residents of Hampden, Hampshire, or Franklin counties of Massachusetts.
- Applicants must have maintained 501(c)3 status for at least one year in order to provide a full year of financial records with their application.

Funding/Project Criteria:
- Funding should specifically enhance an organization’s effectiveness by undertaking activities that advance holistic organizational capacity. Proposals seeking to expand a specific program’s capacity, rather than the entire organization’s capacity, will not be considered.
- Grant range: Minimum grants are $2,500. A maximum grant is $15,000.
- Duration of grants: Up to one (1) year from the grant award date.
