Shoulder to Shoulder: A Message to Our Community
Dear Pioneer Valley Community,
Like many of you, we find ourselves reeling from the horrific racism, injustice and deaths we are witnessing, and it leaves us in anguish. We hear the cries of pain and anger of the families of George Floyd and Ahmaud Arbery and of thousands of protestors. We at the Community Foundation see you, and we stand with you.
We are also asking how we can do more. How will we, as a charitable foundation, shoulder our full responsibility to our community—and to everyone in our community? We don’t have all the answers, but we know we must start where we are, recommit to that work every day, and do this work with others.
About the Fund
The COVID-19 Response Fund for the Pioneer Valley was created to provide immediate support to those most vulnerable to the economic and health-related issues caused by the coronavirus pandemic.
Through grantmaking to nonprofit organizations serving the region, the Fund will help with emergency assistance, health services, and additional critical needs such as housing and food.
The Fund was made possible through a partnership between the Community Foundation of Western Massachusetts (CFWM) and a host of generous businesses and organizations, led by MassMutual’s $1 million gift.
Your compassion and generosity have been overwhelming!
To date, you’ve donated $6.9 million to help your neighbors in need through the COVID-19 Response Fund
From the bottom of our hearts, thank you.
We’re all in this together, and together we will create solutions to help residents in communities across Hampshire, Hampden and Franklin counties get back on their feet.
