Joanna S. Ballantine Earns CAP Designation

We congratulate Joanna S. Ballantine on earning the Chartered Advisor in Philanthropy (CAP®) Designation from The American College of Financial Services. The CAP® Designation enhances Ballantine’s expertise in charitable giving strategies, philanthropic advising, gift planning for nonprofits, to better serve individuals, families, and nonprofit partners interested in making a significant difference in the Valley and beyond.

This achievement highlights Ballantine’s ability to facilitate complex giving strategies, gift planning, and legacy-giving stewardship. By earning the CAP® credential, Joanna is positioned to work closely with donors seeking to leave a significant legacy for communities near and far. The designation provides a graduate-level framework to help integrate charitable giving strategies seamlessly into estate, financial, and legacy planning.

“CAP is a foundational designation for philanthropic advisors,” said Ballantine. “It serves professionals across many fields- from financial advisors and attorneys to fundraisers and non-profit leaders- all united by a shared commitment to helping donors and clients achieve greater purpose with their wealth.” 

Ballantine has been serving the Community Foundation of Western Mass as its Vice President for Philanthropic Services since 2022. She joined the Community Foundation after serving at The Davis Financial Group as a financial planner and advisor. She has held multiple nonprofit leadership positions in the past including Vice President for the Western Region at The Trustees where she provided executive and strategic leadership for the largest conservation and preservation organization in Massachusetts and previously served as Executive Director of the Harold Grinspoon Foundation.
