Friends of the M.N. Spear Memorial LibraryOn Tuesday, May 1st, the M.N. Spear Memorial Library will be open to the public as a Valley Gives "donation station." Many Shutesbury residents and residents of the surrounding towns do not have access to high-speed internet at home. A few people always stop in to use our internet and computers to donate to our campaign and other organizations on Valley Gives Day. We will serve free refreshments. Throughout the day, we will highlight special projects and collections at out Library. We will rotate displays of our unique collections. These will include our collection of antique Shutesbury maps. In the morning, local history enthusiasts who will be on hand to answer questions about the maps. We will also highlight our STEM Activity Station, which is a collection of educational toys, puzzles and games designed to engage 3-10 years old children and their families in STEM topics. Children will also be able to dig for "treasure" in our sandbox. We will offer tours of the Library for new visitors. The Library Director, members of the Friends of the Library, and Library Trustees will be on hand throughout the day to answer questions about our ongoing efforts to raise funds towards a future New Shutesbury Library. North Star and The Quarters invite you to come play classic arcade games with friends at its inaugural Valley Games Day event on Tuesday, May 1, 12–6 p.m. Ten dollars admission gets you UNLIMITED tokens! Timed to coincide with the annual Valley Gives Day, this is your chance to support North Star and have fun at the same time. ALL proceeds will go to North Star.

Want to join the fun, but arcade games aren't your thing? Bring a deck of cards and perch on one of The Quarters' many tables, or enjoy the spring weather out on its patio. Located at 8 Railroad Street just off Route 9, The Quarters has bike racks for those who choose to ride the Rail Trail, plus it's just one block away from the PVTA heading in either direction.
