Scholarships

Thanks to the generosity of the donors in this region, the Community Foundation of Western Massachusetts administers, through one centralized application process, many scholarships and interest-free loans. Last year alone, the program attracted approximately 2,000 applications and awarded approximately $2 million to over 800 recipients.  The program is recognized as one of the largest scholarship programs of the over 700 community foundations in the country. For more information about starting a scholarship fund, please review our guidelines.

These scholarships and interest-free student loans support students seeking access to the opportunities offered by higher education and play a substantial role in providing an educated citizenry. Some help students from a particular school or area; others provide financial assistance to those pursuing a specific field of study; still others assist students with financial need. Scholarship and interest-free loan awards are reviewed by volunteer committees and approved by the Trustees of the Community Foundation of Western MA. Awards are made subject to availability and to the policies of the Community Foundation. These policies are available for review upon request.

To apply a student must complete the online application available January 1, through the link on this site.  Students must also provide their most recent academic transcript and a copy of their 2016-2017 Student Aid Report (SAR).  It is strongly recommended that the transcript and SAR be uploaded with the online application.  It may be mailed or emailed if a student cannot upload the documents.
