Donor Advised & Donor Designated Recommendations

Donor advised funds offer donors the opportunity to remain involved in grantmaking by making recommendations for distributions of either income or principal from funds they have established; donor advised funds are often a preferable alternative to a private foundation. Gifts to advised funds can allow a donor to take a charitable income tax deduction without making a final determination as to the charitable recipient.

Donor designated funds represent endowments for named organizations, providing annual distributions to those nonprofits designated by the donor, in amounts intended by the Trustees of the Community Foundation to preserve the principal of the fund.
