Business/System Analyst (BSA)

The Community Foundation of Western Massachusetts (CFWM) seeks a Business/System Analyst (BSA) to join our team. The BSA Analyst evaluates organizational and departmental needs, gathers requirements, researches, and implements and tests the deployment of systems and solutions to improve business processes at CFWM and maintains software and databases.

This position is responsible for creating, auditing and maintaining data integrity standards for CFWM and for managing technology and software training opportunities.

The BSA will:

Support existing software solutions while participating in the evaluation and implementation of new software services by identifying key business processes, operations, and functions

Lead business process requirements gathering and collaborate with staff to translate the requirements to software, database and reporting solutions and works with staff to identify and implement an accurate, timely, efficient and transparent workflow.

Develop workflow/process maps for transition from current to future landscape for existing and proposed business initiatives, including advocacy of best practices and potential re-engineering.

Trouble-shoot errors and problems, create reports, execute cross system file imports/exports for all departments using advanced database skills and complex query statements. Oversee system processing, relationships and reporting aspects of core database applications (FIMS, Gifts Online, Donor Central, Smarter Select, Access & CRM)

Create and oversee process to collect, manipulate and analyze data and systems to guard and protect CFWM’s data integrity, making sure that the core database applications produce consistent, reliable, reusable data by monitoring, reviewing and auditing new and existing data, data migration, data exports and reports. Identify security vulnerabilities and eliminate them with strategic solutions that increase data safety

Design, develop, document and maintain clear, written protocols and processes in a manual format and communicate and meet regularly with staff to assure their knowledge and effectiveness in carrying out these procedures. In combination with the IT Manager and Sr. Staff, develop, create and maintain an integrated staff general IT training program as well as software and department specific end user training opportunities.

Develop in depth familiarity with integration points and processes across CFWM to help standardize processes and tools and provide technical assistance to trouble shoot software and process challenges related to the implementation of software tools.

Qualifications

  • A degree in IT / Computer Science, Information Management or equivalent experience
  • Proven experience as a data analyst or business/systems analyst
  • Proven experience in eliciting requirements and testing
  • Experience in analyzing data to draw business-relevant conclusions
  • Extensive experience with relational databases including SQL Server, direct experience with database application configuration
  • Solid experience in writing SQL queries, extensive Access expertise
  • Experience in generating process documentation
  • Project Management of software implementations
  • HTML coding
  • Experience with Blackbaud/MicroEdge products (Donor Central, Gifts Online, FIMS) preferred
